Trot Insider has learned that 2000 Metro Pace winner Pro Bono Best is on the move, and from a North American perspective the move couldn't be much bigger

.

Colin J. Dalby, stud manager of Camden Stud in Great Britain, has informed Trot Insider that Pro Bono Best p,2,1:51s ($509,717) will be making the trek across the Atlantic Ocean to stand stud.

Dalby explained that Camden Stud is very excited about acquiring the 11-year-old son of Cambest, which will be standing alongside resident stallions Arts Conquest p,3,1:50 ($880,576) and Yankee Lariat p,3,1:50.4 ($480,024).

Pro Bono Best competed in all of his 12 career races at the age of two, as he compiled seven wins, one second-place finish and three third-place efforts. In addition to his victory in the Metro, the student of trainer Des Tackoor recorded grand circuit wins in divisions of the Champlain and Nassagaweya Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack. The bay retired with a mark of 1:51 taken over Woodbine Racetrack and $509,717 in purse earnings.

Pro Bono Best's progeny have found success on the track, as 81.6 per cent of his starters have taken records, including 57 in 1:55 or faster and four in 1:50 or faster.

"We are excited that we have acquired another proven 1:49 sire that will stand as a cornerstone in our endeavors to establish a major stud farm here in Great Britain," Dalby said. "As you would say in North America, 'we have all bases covered.'"
