Despite not setting foot on a racetrack for nearly four years, pacer Somebeachsomewhere continues to set records in the harness racing industry.
The hard fought win of Somwherovrarainbow in the $600,000 Breeders Crown final for two-year-old fillies at Woodbine Racetrack last Saturday night enabled her world champion sire Somebeachsomewhere to edge past the long standing record of No Nukes for two-year-old crop single-season earnings.
Somebeachsomewhere’s first crop has now earned more than $4.54 million this year, surpassing No Nukes, whose two-year-olds banked over $4.16 million back in 1990.
From a first crop of 124 foals, Somebeachsomewhere has had 95 starters with 63 in 2:00, 30 in 1:55 and 10 $100,000 winners. His progeny are headed up by Captaintreacherous p,2,1:49.2s ($911,277), the richest and fastest two-year-old in North America in 2012.
