Multiple award-winning pacer and millionaire Stockade Seelster has been retired from racing and will stand stud in 2025.

Stockade Seelster p,2,1:49.3s; 3,1:48.4s ($1,621,878) will stand in Ohio beginning in 2025.

A four-year-old son of State Treasurer out of Soiree Seelster, Stockade Seelster was the Dan Patch Two-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year in 2022 and holds the distinction of being a back-to-back O’Brien Award winner in Canada, being crowned both Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

As a freshman, Stockade Seelster won eight of 11 starts, winning the Metro Pace and going undefeated in Ontario Sires Stakes action and winning the Super Final.

Last year as a sophomore, he added wins in the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes, multiple Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series legs, the North America Cup consolation and the Progress Pace eliminination, as well as runner-up finishes in the Hempt and both the elimination and final of the Breeders Crown (to Confederate).

Stockade Seelster was trained by Dr. Ian Moore for owners Sally MacDonald and Paul MacDonald, and was driven throughout much of his career by Jody Jamieson.

“Stockade Seelster has the deepest set of lungs on a horse that I’ve ever driven," said Jamieson. "There was just no end to him. He was always willing and able to win.”

Stockade Seelster will be managed by Cornerstone Stock Farm (Jeff Fought) and will stand at Winterwood Farm in Bellville, Ohio, under the watchful eye of Mark Adams, for a fee of $4,000 USD.

Fought noted that, being a son of State Treasurer (Real Desire) out of a Big Jim mare, the stallion brings the ideal outcross pedigree to the exploding Ohio breeding program at an opportune time.

“Stockade Seelster represents a tremendous opportunity for the breeders in the expanding Ohio program," said Fought. "Stallion quality in the state is strong and this horse fits in perfectly with his credentials and pedigree. Ohio is very heavy on quality Somebeachsomewhere line stallions and this opens the door for Stockade Seelster to breed the mares from that sire line. Mares by Downbytheseaside, Captaintreacherous, Somebeachsomewhere and so many other lines will fit this horse perfectly.”

Syndication is underway and a limited number of syndicate shares are available. Terms are friendly and share purchasers are entitled to two free breedings per share for the first three years Stockade Seelster stands at stud.
