Middleton Terror teamed up with driver David Dowling for a lifetime best score in his Atlantic Breeders Crown consolation Saturday (Oct. 9) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The afternoon card featured a quartet of $7,500 pacing consolations for the Atlantic Sires Stakes season and Middleton Terror was much the best in the two-year-old pacing colt event with a 1:55.1 victory for Dowling, trainer Donnie MacNeill and owners Kingsley Walsh and Frank Balcom.
Little Miss Ava was a four-length winner in the three-year-old pacing filly consolation winning in 1:56.4 for driver Myles Heffernan Sr., trainer Myles Heffernan Jr., and owner Jackie Heffernan of Summerville.
Ultimate Long Shot controlled the tempo in the two-year-old pacing filly consolation for a 1:58.1 victory with Dowling in the seat from the Earl Watts stable. Windemere Farms co-owns the filly with River Valley Management and Clive Balderston.
Whistler captured the $7,500 three-year-old pacing colt consolation with trainer Jason Hughes in the bike for a 1:56.3 score aboard the Alan MacDonald-owned son of Stonebridge Terror. The Hughes stable had two wins on the day with Unique Beach stopping the clock in 1:56.1 in the sixth.
Race 4 saw an accident in the first turn as Saulsbrook Raptor (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) fell to the racing surface interfering with Atufflittleguy (Hilliard Graves). Both drivers were unseated in the spill but were up and walking after being checked out by medical staff while the horses walked off the track in good health. Neither driver participated in the rest of the program.
