Monmouth Park's first meet under new operators New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and Darby Development LLC saw an increase in attendance, but a drop in overall wagering.

An article by nj.com states that the thoroughbred racetrack's average daily all-sources handle was down 13.5 per cent.

Overall, the track handled $30,617,780 in on-track wagers for the meet. In terms of average daily on-track wagers, Monmouth's handle was down to $471,043 from $490,999 in 2011.

In terms of attendance, visitors pushed through the gates at a rate 10.9 per cent higher than in 2011.

Via release, Dennis Drazin, advisor to the operators, was quoted as saying, “Based on what we knew coming into this meet, we anticipated a drop in our handle numbers,” and that, “back in April it didn’t look like there would be a 2012 Monmouth meet, and to be able to maintain the purse levels we did and increase the number of visitors to the racetrack, I would say our season was a success.”
