Favourite Euchred ($3.50) and trainer/driver Walter Walker were untouchable in the $3,900 Dr. Jim Remembrance Pace, winning by open lengths on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Inverness Raceway.
Leaving from the inside post, Euchred fronted the field of eight through panels of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:28 before extending his leading margin to 14 lengths en route to the 1:57.1 victory. The five-year-old Shadow Play-Tipsy Taters gelding is campaigned by local owner Kayla Habicht Walker.
The win was his ninth in 20 starts this year and 28th victory lifetime.
Doubleshotascotch was second-best in the featured finale for driver Ryan Campbell while Cam Cool and Alex MacQuarrie rounded out the top three finish order.
Earlier in the day, 16-year-old trainer Lily Watson celebrated her first career victory with pacer Im Indigo taking the Sunday afternoon opener in 2:03.3 and then went two-for-two with Tymal Torrence also winning his third race assignment. John Gerard Kennedy drove both winners for Watson, who has a 2-1-4 record from 17 starts so far in her debut season.
