Two-year-olds contested four Prospect Series Finals, each carrying a purse of $20,000, on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Bella Chica put on a show in the first final, storming away from her five foes to take the two-year-old trotting filly title by 5-1/2 lengths in wire-to-wire fashion. Paul MacKenzie piloted the filly to the 2:00.2 victory. Just Call me Bella (Daryl Thiessen) was second-best, followed by Massive Victory (Austin Sorrie).

Corrie German trains the winning daughter of Lookslikeachpndale-Wheely Twicky, whom he co-bred and co-owns with Brenda German. Bella Chica was winless in six starts to begin her career but turned a corner this month and has now demolished her rivals in three straight victories. The filly has earned $21,000 in nine starts for her Clinton, Ont.-based connections. She paid $6.10 to win.

Starbright Dancer landed the pocket early for Thiessen, began his attack on the final turn, and overhauled 1-9 favourite Allstar Cords (Stephen Byron) to win the two-year-old colt-and-gelding pace final by a half-length in 1:59. Lyons Goodrow (Sorrie) completed the ticket.

Starbright Dancer won three preliminary legs of the series and has not missed the board in eight career starts to date. The son of Artspeak-Thorne Seelster has won five times and earned $32,760 for trainer Rod Boyd and owner 1187422 Ontario Inc. of Ottawa, Ont. He returned $8.90.

Silver Detector was hampered by a calamitous start in the rookie colt trot championship, spotting Northern Genius (Garrett Rooney), the only horse to avoid the disarray, a large advantage heading into the first turn. But Silver Detector, driven by Samuel Fillion, had tracked the leader down by three-eighths, followed him into the stretch, then vaulted past him to prevail by two lengths in 2:02.4. Beach Concert (MacKenzie), one of three starters to remain on stride in the six-horse field, was well back in third.

The win was Silver Detector’s fourth in the series and fourth overall in eight starts. The son of Alarm Detector-Silver, a homebred for Silver Stables of Venise-En-Quebec, Que., has earned $24,000. He is trained by Jean-Francois Maguire. The win price was $2.10.

Mc Princess put a wrap on the 2025 Prospect Series with a commanding third straight victory, winning the final for pacing fillies by four lengths in 1:57.3. She went all the way after firing from the six-hole for Jason Ryan, rebuffing the extended attack of Kosmic Krisp (Damian MacLellan), who held on for place. Stompa (Thiessen) finished third.

Mc Princess won three preliminary legs of the series for trainer Gregg McNair and is now four-for-nine. The daughter of Mcwicked-Believe In Me has earned $35,080 for Hutt Racing Stable of Malvern, Pa. Her win mutuel was $6.90.

The Prospect Series Finals for three-year-olds were held last Friday.
