Sandbetweenurtoes Reaches $1 Million

Pacing mare Sandbetweenurtoes earned millionaire status winning Friday night's ninth race over stablemate Witch Dali at Mohawk Racetrack.

The top two finishers in the $25,000 top level conditioned pace are both trained by Richard Moreau for owner Brad Grant of Milton, Ont.

Driver Doug McNair was aboard Sandbetweenurtoes, who looped to the lead after a :28 opening quarter and posted middle splits of :56.1 and 1:23.2 before holding off Witch Dali ad Jody Jamieson by half a length in 1:50.3. Early leader P L Hurricane and Randy Waples followed one length behind in third.

Sandbetweenurtoes notched her 32nd career win as her earnings climbed to $1,008,582.

Sent postward as the favourite after facing stakes company in the mid-September Milton, Sandbetweenurtoes paid $4.50 to win.

The six-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere and Als Girl has won 11 of 29 starts this year to earn $228,360 of her million-dollar bankroll.
