Churchill To Install $12M HD Board

On Monday, October 7, Churchill Downs announced that it will be installing a massive, $12-million high definition video board in time for the 2014 Kentucky Derby.

A report by the Courier-Journal explains that massive LED screen by Panasonic will be placed in the backstretch and will be 171 feet in width and 170 feet in height.

“Along with our current $15-million Grandstand Terrace project, we are investing over $27-million this year to make Churchill Downs not only the best venue for thoroughbred racing’s biggest events, the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, but one of the premier sports and entertainment venues anywhere in the world,” the Courier-Journal has quoted Churchill Downs President Kevin Flanery as saying.

The article states that the monitor is scheduled to debut on April 26, 2014.
