Milleniums Girl and driver Barton Dalious won the featured $6,000 fillies and mares pace on Friday, Oct. 6 at Vernon Downs.
Milleniums Girl led to the quarter in :26 but Grant Me This (John MacDonald) took the lead going down the backstretch and was first to the half in :54.4. Grant Me This cleared to command and led to three-quarters in 1:23. As they made the turn for home, Milleniums Girl made her move and re-took the lead in the stretch. Prairie Magical (Dan Harvey) was flying late but had to settle for second money as Milleniums Girl won by 1-1/4 lengths in a lifetime best 1:52.3. Elegant Noelle (Jimmy Whittemore) and Jeannies Terror (Tom Merton) finished in a dead heat for third.
Milleniums Girl is a five-year-old mare by Royel Millennium. She is owned by Chris and Dale Lawton and trained by David Dewhurst. The win was her third in 18 starts this season and she now has 13 career victories. Milleniums Girl paid $4.60 to win.
Aaron Byron had a driving triple on Friday's card while Frank Affrunti, John MacDonald and Jimmy Whittemore had driving doubles.
Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday, Oct. 7 with an 11-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
