Dave Byron celebrated his 1,000th training triumph on Saturday night after his brother Steve Byron guided three-year-old trotting filly Bridge On The Kwai to victory lane in the sixth race at Georgian Downs.
Bridge On The Kwai swept up from fourth during the third panel and put away the popular pacesetters Mint Kiss and Wayne Henry to notch her fourth career win in a new lifetime mark of 1:59.2. The victory provided her 53-year-old Thornton, Ont. conditioner with his 11th triumph of the season and the 1,000th career win.
Byron trains the homebred Angus Hall filly for owners James Cantelon of Thornton, Ont., David Cantelon of Bolton, Ont., and Michael Cantelon of Tottenham, Ont.
