Stella Volo Tops Third Session Of Lexington Sale

Trotting filly Stella Volo garnered the highest tag of the 235 yearlings sold during the third session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 5). 

Stella Volo, a daughter of Six Pack from the Windsongs Legacy mare No Im Not, sold for $250,000 to Fred Kruszelnicki of Brooks, Alta. The filly, sold as Hip No. 528, is the sixth foal from the mare, whose progeny includes three winners of over $200,000. She was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms. 

Another trotting filly attracted a large price tag with the session's second-largest purchase Midwind Dolce, selling as Hip No. 396. The daughter of Father Patrick, from the Donato Hanover mare Boccone Dolce, sold for $215,000 to Euro Stall SE of Berlin, Ohio. She was consigned by Peninsula Farm and is the fourth foal from the mare, who is a half sister to champion trotting mare Bella Bellini. 

Brittany Farms-consigned yearling Gifted One, Hip No. 419, sold for the third-highest price when leaving the ring at $180,000 to Tony Alagna of Manalapan, N.J. The filly by Captaintreacherous is the first foal from the Artspeak mare Creative Power, who is a three-quarter sister to millionaire Western Fame. 

Rounding the largest purchases of the session are a trio of yearlings, all colts, that sold for $170,000. Secret Agent Man, Hip No. 450, was consigned by Brittany Farms and sold to Andy Miller Stable Inc. of Millstone Twp., N.J. The son of Chapter Seven is the first foal from the Trixton mare Feel The Magic, who is a half sister to half-million-dollar-earner Master Of Law. 

Next came Vincendi Blue Chip, selling as Hip No. 473, to Determination of Montreal, Que. The Blue Chip Farms-consigned colt is a son of Bettors Delight from the Art Major mare Incredible Beauty and is the seventh foal from the mare, who is a full sister to Precocious Beauty and a three-quarter sister to North America Cup champ Sportswriter.

Last for the $170,000 tag was Cincinattus, Hip No. 593. Amanda Fine of Guelph, Ont. purchased the son of Sweet Lou, from the Western Terror mare Weapons Against, from consigner Vieux Carre Farms. The colt is a full brother to stakes-placed Lyons Night Hawk and is the fifth foal from the mare who is a half sister to Meadowlands Pace winner A Rocknroll Dance. 

Sales from session three totaled $11,994,000 — up from 2021's figure of $10,169,000. The sale average from the session also hopped from $47,594 in 2021 to $51,038 this year.

Through three sessions, 584 yearlings have brought $55,494,000 for an average of $95,024, up from 2021's total through three sessions of $46.6 million.
