After a recent sale and a pair of breaks in stateside starts, Open class trotter Private Access made a return to familiar surroundings on Friday, Oct. 30 with a successful qualifying effort at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The former Determination-owned Luc Blais pupil, purchased by Maine's William Hartt on Sept. 22 in an online auction, Private Access debuted for trainer David Menary on Friday with driver Doug McNair at the controls in the morning's fifth qualifier.
McNair landed Private Access away in fifth early, unhurried but advancing to third after a pair of breakers in front of him before the third station. Charted as seven lengths off tempo-setter Code Switch (Phil Hudon) after that one fronted the field through fractions of :28.4, :57.2 and 1:26.1, Private Access closed with authority in the stretch. Finding a seam between Code Switch and Alamo Mission (Guy Gagnon), Private Access powered past both trotters to prevail in 1:55.3. Alamo Mission finished 2-1/2 lengths back in second, with Code Switch rounding out the top trio.
A five-year-old intact son of Muscle Hill-Open Access, Private Access sports a career summary of 9-7-6 from 52 career starts with a mark of 1:50.2 and more than $842,000 in career earnings.
