Occupying the pocket as Rubis Prescott and Cenalta Call Girl contested for the lead, Sodwana Bay edged out of the pocket into the stretch to nab a three-quarter length victory in the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Driver Alfie Carroll launched the Victor Puddy trainee from post seven for the pocket spot while Rubis Prescott secured the lead from the rail. By the quarter in :28.1, Rubis Prescott soon braced for a first-over challenge from Cenalta Call Girl past a :58.2 half and briefly forfeited the lead past a 1:27.1 third-quarter.

Rubis Prescott reclaimed control with her inside advantage on Cenalta Call Girl rounding the final turn. A seam opened in the stretch for Sodwana Bay to split past her competition and the five-year-old No Pan Intended mare crossed the wire in 1:56.3 ahead of Cenalta Call Girl taking second from Rubis Prescott.

Sodwana Bay competes for owners Wayne Mac Rae and Howmac Farms Limited. She won her 13th race from 36 starts this season and her 19th from 74 overall, earning $140,447, and returned $10.80 to win.
