Longshot players were ecstatic as the horses crossed the wire in the ninth race at Northfield Park on Thursday (October 30), when Upland Hanover successfully kicked from the back to win at odds of 176-1.

Northfield, Ohio’s Greg Bartlett owns and trains the seven year-old. Jason Thompson was aboard for the winning drive. It was the fourth win this year in 23 starts and represents Upland Hanover’s 12th lifetime score.

Upland Hanover (176-1) was followed across the wire by Caramel Chinno (8-5) and Stellllllla (6-1). Upland Hanover returned $355.60 to win; the 7-3 Exacta paid $1,094.80; and the 7-3-1 Trifecta returned a whopping $10,102.20.

Albeit one of the biggest winners in Northfield Park’s history, Upland Hanover is not the longest shot to ever score over the Flying Turns. That honour goes to Jets Appearance and driver Sheri Hersman when they paid $579 to win on August 22, 1988.
