Action Packed Card At Fraser On Thursday

The Thursday (Oct. 3) evening card at Fraser Downs saw no shortage of action in the 10 races with a menu comprised of multiple stakes action, four training wins by Rod Therres, and an extended win streak by Rollin Withholly A.

Phone The Cops broke her maiden in the $20,000 Betty Millbank Memorial B.C. Breeders Stakes first preliminary leg for two-year-old pacing fillies with trainer Serge Masse in the bike. 

Masse sent her out of the gate in post four, accepting a brief spell in second at the :28.3 opening fraction before taking over. Phone The Cops maintained a 1-1/2 length cushion through the :59.2 half and 1:30.1 three quarters. With a final quarter in :28.4, Phone The Cops was home free by a length, stopping the timer in 1:59. Heavens Lil Dragon (Rob Therres) was second over Serge Masses' Dragons Attitude (David Hudon) in third.

Phone The Cops (Custard The Dragon - Phone Terror) is owned by Serge Masse and Allan Neurauter. She moved her record to 1-1-3 in seven starts with $20,303 earned. From 3-2 odds, she paid $5.00 to win.

The $20,000 Robert Millbank Memorial B.C. Breeders Stakes first preliminary leg for two-year-old colts and geldings followed in race nine with Fubar Bundy winning over his field of nine.

Rod Therres sent his student from the gate in post three and battled Odins Fury (Allan Molloy) through the opening quarter in :28.3. After the first fraction, Fubar Bundy set sail as the leader, handling the timer with fractions in :58.2 and 1:26.4 before crossing the wire victorious in 1:55.1 by 1-1/4 lengths. Odins Fury grabbed second and Westcoast Mccoy (Philip Giesbrecht) was third.

Therres co-owns the All Bets Off - Guthrie Hanover colt with Ralph Therres, Kfc Farms Ltd, and Dairen Edwards. Fubar Bundy (pictured above) is now a perfect three-for-three with $16,000 earned in his career. He paid $2.10 to win.

The second leg of the B.C. Breeders Stakes for two-year-olds will be on Oct. 17 followed by the $100,000 final on Oct. 24.

Wannabeabigstar ($10.90) scored in the first of two $7,500 B.C. Bred Stakes eliminations for three- and four-year-old male pacers. Philip Giesbrecht drove the Jim Marino student to a half length victory in 1:54. Tahuya Devil (Scott Knight) closed sharply, but had to settle for second. Pace-setting Nothing Bugs Me (Serge Masse) completed the triactor.

J J J Stables, Jim Marino, and Paul Sanders co-own the sophomore Shadow Play - Greek Beach gelding. 

Buddyville ($2.40) was driven to a 2-1/4 length victory in 1:55.1 by Scott Knight to take the second B.C. Bred Stakes elimination for the males. Key Dragon (Bradley Watt) was second while Phone Nine One One (Giesbrecht) overcame an early miscue to take third.

Veikko Pajunen owns the four-year-old Huntsville - Baez gelding as he won his fourth straight race.

Senorita Draco ($2.30) took the first of the pair of $7,500 B.C. Bred Stakes eliminations for three- and four-year-old female pacers with a gate-to-wire score in 1:56.3. Giesbrecht and Marino teamed up again for the double score in the stakes. The filly won by a half length over Beyondthehorizon (John Abbott). Catch Me On Top (Allan Molloy) was third.

The winning Custard The Dragon - Mrs Noce filly is owned by J J J Stables, Jim Marino, and Paul Sanders.

The second B.C. Bred Stakes for the young ladies was captured by Catchmegracefully ($2.90), driven to a half length score in 1:55.4 by David Hudon. Vintage Lass (Knight) was second while Master Of Liberty (Tyson Jacoby) completed the ticket.

The Chucaro Acero Bc - Odds On Carmen filly is owned and trained by Glenn White.

The B.C. Bred Stakes is for three-year-olds that were non-winners of $30,000 lifetime and four-year-olds that were non-winners of $20,000 lifetime as of Dec. 31, 2023. The $20,000 finals will be held on Oct. 10.

Goodbye Ceia Later ($4.80) was piloted by Serge Masse, overcoming an early break to win the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Handicap Pace in a three-length victory in 1:54.1. Rod Therres trains the Vertical Horizon - Ba Bye Ceia Later five-year-old mare for Christopher Lancaster and Velda Olding.

The victory secured added to four training wins on the card for Therres.

Rollin Withholly A ($3.70) won her fifth consecutive race in the Fillies and Mares Claiming Handicap Pace worth $7,500 with a 1:54.1 score by three-quarters of a length. She was driven by owner/trainer Rod Therres.
