Up And Ready Tops Third Session

The third session of the 2019 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale was held Thursday evening at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion in Lexington, KY, and it was a daughter of the Ontario-based sire, Kadabra, checking in as the nightly sale topper.

Hip No. 432, Up And Ready, consigned by Preferred Equine Inc. for Cool Creek Farm of Mt. Pleasant, Ont., attracted a $300,000 bid from James Glass. Out of Glide By, a three-quarter sister to Maven (T1:51.1 - $2,005,369), the filly is a half-sister to Nows The Moment (1:53.3 - $157,437).

Hip No. 345, Magic Beauty, consigned by Peninsula Farm Inc., fetched a $180,000 bid from agent David McDuffee. The daughter of Kadabra is the second foal of Magic Marker (1:52.2 - $160,795) – the daughter of the Breeders Crown winning mare, Susies Magic (1:52.4 - $743,188).

Hip No. 380, Garnsey, was collared for $170,000 by Paul Kelley from the Peninsula Farm Inc. consignment. The son of Trixton is a half-brother to O’Brien Award winner, Wheeling N Dealin (1:52.4 - $913,954), who now stands stud at Seelster Farms in Lucan, Ont.

Hip No. 375, Captain Terror, saw the hammer drop for a price of $150,000. Lindy Farms signed the ticket on the son of Captaintreacherous, who was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms. The colt is Pink Terror’s first foal. She is a half-sister to Beyond Delight (T1:49.3 - $604,580).

The 173 yearlings sold during the second session grossed a total of $7,656,000 for an average sale price of $44,254.

Six offspring of Kadabra went through the ring on Thursday, and those youngsters sold for an average price of $110,330 – the highest average of any sire during the third session. Eight by Chapter Seven produced an average price of $63,000, while the 10 Captaintreacherous youngsters that entered the ring combined for an average price of $57,800.
