Son Of Anarchy closed off cover to win the first $10,500 Open Pace of the new meet at Fraser Downs on Friday night for trainer/driver Paul Davies.

The longest shot on the board at odds of 10-1, Son Of Anarchy followed in fourth-place while Gotta Have Nukes forged to the front and carved out fractions of :27.2, :58.2 and 1:27.1. Early trailer Chewy Baca, the 3-5 favourite in his Fraser Downs debut, confronted the race leader at the third quarter mark, with Son Of Anarchy following his cover. Son Of Anarchy chased Minnesota invader Chewy Baca down the stretch and rallied by when that rival broke stride for the three-length victory in 1:55 flat. Chewy Baca crossed the wire in second while on a break and was placed back to fourth for being lapped on at the finish. Keep The Dream, who had finished third, was bumped up to second and Gotta Have Nukes inherited third-place. Cantbeatacheetah completed the five-horse field.

Son Of Anarchy, who had competed at Alberta's Century Downs throughout the summer, now has seven wins in 31 starts this year for earnings of $48,420. The four-year-old gelded son of Drivin To Win is owned by Lorne Duffield of Edmonton and Diane Harries of Falun, Alta.

Son Of Anarchy returned $22.10 for a $2 win ticket.

The feature win was the first of three driving wins on the 12-race card for Davies. Meanwhile, trainer/driver Serge Masse sent out three winners from his stable, including the maiden-breaking fillies Somewhere A Place and Call Your Mamma.
