After standing stud then making an on-track comeback, Daylon Magician will be returning to the stud barn for 2018.
The richest son of his Hall of Fame sire Kadabra, Daylon Magician will be standing at Mac Lilley Farms, in Dutton, Ontario.
After making almost $2 million on the track, Daylon Magician has now proven that he can pass on those great trotting abilities to his offspring. From six foals he has produced five starters that include Scene A Magician 1:57.2s ($120,692) and Gisele Treelane 1:55.3s ($81,883).
Daylon Magician was plagued with fertility issues early in his breeding career. After a two-year vacation, these fertility issues look to be a thing of the past. His semen was evaluated by Plante Veterinary Services in 2017, who stated that "Everything is in the normal range for semen obtained from a fertile stallion."
After a career that has spanned six seasons and 81 starts, Daylon Magician has raced in provincial or open stakes events for every start save a handful. He started his sophomore campaign in 2011 with wins in 11 of his first 13 starts, including the elimination and final of the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic.
The three-year-old campaign of Daylon Magician ended with a 11-2-3 summary from 17 starts and $1.068 million in earnings. He was an obvious and overwhelmingly popular choice as Canada's Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year at the 2011 O'Brien Awards.
He established several track records, Canadian and OSS records and tied the world record of 1:54.2h for three-year-old trotters on a half-mile track at Flamboro Downs.
Daylon Magician's 2018 stud fee will be $4,000.
