The votes are in and the overall winner of this year’s Zoom Contest which featured six monthly themes and winners has been determined!
Congratulations to Faith Megens of Cambridge, Ont., who has been voted as the 2016 Zoom Champion! Faith’s photo was taken at her Opa’s farm in Puslinch, Ont., on September 24 by her mother Stacey Newman and was also the winner in September’s Zoom Contest which featured the theme, Meet My Horse.
Faith is only six years old and the youngest person to submit a photo in any of our Zoom Contests. She's pictured with her favourite horse, Lexus Diamond, a two-year-old filly that is owned, trained and driven by Faith’s grandfather William Megens.
From the time that she could walk Faith loved horses and rode her first horse when she was just three years old. She spends a great deal of time at her Opa’s farm visiting three to four times a week helping with the horses, especially Lexus Diamond.
“She brushes horses, helps clean stalls, helps Opa get the feed ready and feeds lots of carrots to all of the horses,” her mother Stacey explained.
Faith was born into the business with both sides of her family being involved in harness racing. She is well known at the racetrack and loves socializing with everyone there about the horses!
When Faith isn’t hanging out at the farm she enjoys swimming and playing hockey and baseball.
For winning, Faith will receive a $50 gift card to the racetrack of her choice and a framed enlargement of her winning photo!
The I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club would like to thank everyone who submitted photos to all of this year’s Zoom Challenges.
