World champion Googoo Gaagaa romped to another 20-plus length victory in Maryland Sire Stakes action at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday night.
With Jim Morand in the bike for trainer/owner/breeder Richard Hans, Googoo Gaagaa left from post two in his $32,000 sires stakes final and carved out fractions of :28.2, :57, and 1:25.3 en route to a 1:54.1 triumph over fellow three-year-old colt trotters Mycology, Judge Onthe Beach and Brissot. His margin of victory was 28-1/2 lengths this time out.
The victory followed up a 23 length score in 1:58.1 in last week's sires stakes leg. Both races were non-wagering events.
The son of Cams Rocket, who won the Earl Beal in world record time and Colonial Trot, is now nine-for-12 this year with over $620,000 banked in purses. He was not made eligible to the Hambletonian, Kentucky Futurity or Breeders Crown.
Morand also drove stakes winners Firecracker Freddy (two-year-old colt pace) and Bonnie Ben Jamin (two-year-old filly pace).
Other Maryland Sire Stakes winners were: Perfect Tententen (two-year-old colt trot); Mrs Weasley (three-year-old filly trot); Hotspeed (three-year-old colt pace); and Jukebox Money (three-year-old filly pace).
On a night where all eyes were on the Maryland Sire Stakes champions, four-year-old Cams Rocket mare Rocket Rosy made it an impressive five wins in a row for driver Frank Milby and owner/trainer/breeder Roger Hans. Tonight she and Milby took no prisoners with a rousing wire-to-wire win in a lifetime equalling mark of 1:54.1.
