They weren’t going to beat Dorsoduro Hanover tonight in the $530,000 Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt Pace, not if they went around the Pocono Downs oval again.
This Is The Plan and the parked out American History sped past the quarter pole in :26.1 before the latter cleared to the top. Dorsoduro Hanover and Matt Kakaley made a snap move out of the three-hole as the field moved in front of the grandstand, and in a matter of strides the Ron Burke pupil found himself in charge of the tempo.
Dorsoduro Hanover rolled the group across the backstretch before breaking the beam of the teletimer at the three-quarter pole in 1:21.3. He then used a :28.1 final frame to win in convincing fashion over Lather Up and This Is The Plan. The 1:49.4 clocking matched the gelding’s lifetime mark.
The son of Somebeachsomewhere-Deer Valley Miss is now a 10-time winner this season and a 12-time winner to date for the partnership of Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Wingfield Five. The victory pushed his lifetime earnings to $1,256,856.
