Since entering the 21st century, Josh Green has dominated the trainer standings at Dover Downs, as he has won the title six times, including the last five in a row.
The track's 43rd season opens this Sunday, October 31 with a 5:30 p.m. first-race post time.
Last season, Green held on to win a tight contest in which the first five in the standings had 60 or more wins. Green finished on top, as pupils from his stable reached the winner's circle 68 times.
The former Ohio standout high school running back is readying for the Dover Downs meet with a power-packed stable of quality pacing breds. One of the top performers is Giddy Up Lucky, a Camluck gelding that has won his last seven races, including a 1:51.1 victory last Monday at Harrington. Prior to that, the five-year-old won four consecutive features at Yonkers, all from Post 8.
In last meet's heated competition, Dylan Davis was a close second followed by Tim Crissman, Wayne Givens and Joe Hundertpfund.
Corey Callahan will defend his 2009-10 driving title. Callahan broke a two-straight hold on the crown by Tony Morgan, who has won three of the last five titles. Tim Tetrick is the other member of the last five leading driver statistics.
