According to a report on fosters.com, a push for expanded gambling in the state of Massachusetts could result in the issue being expedited and strongly considered in the neighboring state of New Hampshire

.

The article states that legislation regarding expanded gambling in Massachusetts could be voted on as early as January, 2010. The legislation could allow slot machines at Suffolk Downs, Wonderland Greyhound Park, Raynham Park and Plainridge Racecourse.

According to the article, Rich Killion, a spokesman for Fix It Now New Hampshire, a coalition of pro-gambling groups, said New Hampshire would be wise to approve casino gambling before other nearby states because it would give Granite State businesses "a leg up."

Killion said, "New Hampshire not doing it would allow them (Massachusetts) to get all the revenue."

It has been widely reported that Millennium Gaming is ready to invest $450 million to equip Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire with up to 8,000 slot machines. The company has reitterated its stance even through the currently rough economic climate.
