Driver Travis Henry celebrated a career milestone on the Wednesday evening (Oct. 26) card at Flamboro Downs.
Henry earned his 2,000th career victory with Blake MacIntosh trainee Sports Fan in the eighth race on the Flamboro card. The pair got away fifth off the car and after a :28 first quarter, followed cover on the outside behind Ifudontchewbigred (Travis Cullen). Unchanged, they continued in the outer flow through the :58.2 half. At the 1:27.3 third quarter, Henry pulled Sports Fan three-wide, meeting the leading Premier Nacho (Jason Ryan) eye-to-eye in the turn for home. Henry and Sports Fan continued surging forward on to a 2-1/4-length victory in 1:57.4. Premier Nacho finished second and Counter Offer (Michael Whelan) finished third.
After his win with the three-year-old colt by Sportswriter out of the Western Ideal mare My Ideal, Henry upgraded his season win total to 265, ranking him in the top five drivers in Canada by wins.
