One of Prince Edward Island's top reinsmen, Brodie MacPhee, was over at New Brunswick's Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday afternoon to drive a pair of pacers, including Ace On The River in a new mark of 1:57.4.
Exhibition Park Raceway hosted an eight-dash card with MacPhee driving Ace On The River in the fastest race of the day for owner/trainer Heather Hathaway of Fredericton, N.B. Ace On The River won a thrilling stretch drive with pacesetter Sparky Bayama. Night Talker rounded the top three finishers.
In the top class of the day, Cecils Express continued his winning ways with catch-driver Mark Haig in tow, scoring in 1:59.1 mile over Dance Hanover. Trainer Randy and Matt Phillips share ownership on the aged pacer. He upset MacPhee's other catch-drive as two-time Atlantic Breeders Crown champion filly Ramblinglily ran into a traffic jam in the stretch, but managed a third-place effort.
Racing will continue on the first Saturday of November with the first leg of November handicapping contest.
