Canadian Breeders Crown Connections

The 2017 Breeders Crown Championships will take place this Friday (October 27) and Saturday (October 28) at Hoosier Park in Anderson, Indiana and Canadians can be found all over the program pages for Friday and Saturday’s cards.

The finals for fillies and mares will be held on Friday, while the boys will be in the spotlight on Saturday. Over $5.9 million is on the line over the two nights. Eliminations for the Breeders Crown finals were held last Friday and Saturday at Hoosier.

Leading WEG circuit owners Brad Grant and Quebec's Determination stable have multiple entrants in this year’s Breeders Crown.

Grant’s best shot at Crown glory comes Saturday with two-year-old pacing colt Stay Hungry, who won his elimination. The Tony Alagna trainee will be driven by Mohawk & Woodbine’s leading driver Doug McNair in Saturday’s $600,000 event.

Determination has a big chance to capture the first Crown event of the weekend, as they send out morning-line favourite Emoticon Hanover in Friday’s $250,000 Mare Trot.

The Luc Blais-trained four-year-old has been on fire in recent months and rides a three-race win streak into Friday’s event.

Determination and Blais will also team up Friday with Dream Together (Three-Year-Old Filly Trot) and Saturday with Lookslikeachpndale (Open Trot).

Other notables from the WEG circuit include Trotting Triple Crown champ Marion Marauder (Saturday, Open Trot) and Canadian Pacing Derby champ Sintra (Saturday, Open Pace).
