Two drivers were sent to hospital after an accident in the sixth race at Freehold Raceway on Saturday afternoon.

Approaching the homestretch, American Idol who was on the lead throughout, broke stride and caused Fireintheshark with Jason Bartlett aboard to swerve outside sharply and unseated him.

Cat Manzi, who was driving Royal Man, was behind Fireintheshark and could not avoid the sudden happenings and was catapulted to the track, as a result.

Both drivers were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune for medical treatment.

Officials from Freehold told Trot Insider that Bartlett suffered a sprained ankle and was released. Manzi, however, has a break in the vertebrae in his lower back and is being kept overnight for observation.

Trot Insider will provide further updates on the condition of Cat Manzi as it becomes available.
