Déjà Vu For Barrieau

After scoring a five-bagger last Saturday at Exhibition Park Raceway, Gilles Barrieau returned to the Saint John, New Brunswick half-miler for another five today. The local resident dominated the 11-race card winning by a combined total of 36 lengths

Barrieau pulled off the daily double with a 7-7 combo ($6.80). Escape Plan (timed in 2:06) was eight lengths the best in the card’s opener for trainer Stacy Gay and Cams Nimble (2:05.4) prevailed by six length in the next race for Randy Phillips. Barrieau’s next charge posted the biggest margin of victory of the day. Doctor Decimeter (2:02.3) won by 14 and a quarter lengths in Race 5 for trainer James Smith. Crowley Creek (2:04.1) won by five lengths in Race 9 for Mary Clancy before Barrieau capped off the card with his own pupil Magnetic Benka (2:02.4), who won by two and three-quarter lengths.

The veteran reinsman has won 124 races so far this year earning $277,459 in purses. Over the course of his career he has driven 3,180 winners banking over $5.6 million.
