The betting public was all over Insincerity in Tuesday’s $8,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace at The Raceway at The Western Fair District, and the mare didn’t disappoint her backers.
Scott Coulter hustled Insincerity to the lead from Post 3 and after leading through panels of :28, :58.1 and 1:27 she stormed home in :29.2 to win by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:56.2 as the 2-1 favourite. Rachel Olivia came first-over and held on bravely to finish second, while Wiskywisky Nancy O tagged along to finish third.
William Hamm of West Lorne, ON owns and trains the four-year-old daughter of Rambaran-Super Filly. The homebred won for the third time this season and for the 16th time in her career. She’s banked $111,975 to date.
Two races later Coulter used the same tactical approach to win the $5,250 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 with Ostinato in a time of 1:56.4. After leading through fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:26.3 she then used a :30.1 closing panel to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Chappies Girl, with J M Lasstax settling for the show dough.
Trainer Jeff Wellwood of Toronto co-owns the seven-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Rojens Patriot with Jason McGinnis of Ancaster, ON, and together they watched the mare rack up her 24th lifetime victory. She’s on the verge of surpassing $250,000 in lifetime earnings.
