What do trainer Nick Boyd, drivers Sylvain Filion and Luc Ouellette and WEG President and CEO Nick Eaves have in common? They were among the participants in the 2012 Giddy Up & Gallop 5K Run at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday afternoon.

Runners took part in the 5K run and kids' one-lap event in perfect conditions over the track rated 'fast' to benefit the Standardbred Racetrack Chaplaincy of Canada.

The Mayor of Milton, Gordon Krantz, was on hand to welcome everyone and was the official starter for the Kids' One-Lap Run, while Trot 4 Kids mascot Willie Win led the warm up for the kids.

Massage therapists from Allied Health Therapy in Milton were on hand for pre and post-race massage service, and live entertainment was provided by trainer Carmen Auciello’s band Two Down.

The Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society’s four-legged ambassador, Paula Seelster, was also on hand to meet and greet the runners.

Seventeen-year-old Marcus Noble from Cambridge, Ont. was the winner of the 5K run in a speedy 16:05, while Victor Montini from Acton won the one-lap race in 6:05.
