The Fear The Dragon-Glorious Intent gelding Fearful Intent, a high-percentage winner throughout his career, got a fairly easy half on the lead then dashed home to win the $18,310 featured handicap fast-class conditioned pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Fearful Intent left well from post two for Tim Tetrick and soon had everybody looking for spots along the rail. He then put up relatively pedestrian splits of :27.3 and :56.2 before Lyons Steel (Simon Allard), a noted lover of the Philly surface who had to tuck in third from an outer post, went up uncovered and battled hard with the leader past the 1:24 three-quarters. He stuck with the pacesetter down the stretch, but Fearful Intent still had a :27.2 kicker in him to keep that foe at bay by a length in a 1:51.2 victory. Maxim Hanover (Jack Pelling) was third.

Pollack Racing LLC owns Fearful Intent, who is 11-for-31 this season and 32-for-105 lifetime with $529,628 in earnings. Jeff Cullipher trains the six-year-old grey. The win price was $4.40.

The victory was one of three scores for Tetrick as he took the day’s sulky honors. Cullipher was the only conditioner to record a double.

Co-featured on the 14-race program was a $16,901 pace for developing males, won by the Captain Crunch-Heck Of A Band three-year-old Dreamlandcappucino ($16) in 1:54.4. Tyler Miller got the sophomore, trained and owned by Sergio Lozada, to the lead in a :28.2 quarter, then was content to yield to favoured In The Moonlight (Troy Beyer), who got a breather to a :58.2 half. The price of pacing went up sharply nearing mid-backstretch as Dreamlandcappucino vacated the pocket and dashed to the lead before three-quarters in 1:26.3, and from there the colt held off Stay Focused (Corey Callahan), who had taken up the uncovered chase when the winner went to the front, by three-quarters of a length. In The Moonlight lasted for the show dough. Dreamlandcappuccino is now three-for-31 lifetime with $47,563 in earnings. The win was his second in 20 seasonal outings.

The first Thursday card since the track refurbishment earlier this month will begin at 1 p.m. as Philly’s next live presentation, and it has the “Trottin’ Thursday” group of fast diamondgaiters reassembled, with a solid crew in the $13,000 USD handicap feature. There will also be a carryover into the fifth-race Pick 5 pool.
