Eagle Jolt contributed to what has become a common night for P.E.I.'s top trainer-driver during the Thursday evening card at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Marc Campbell guided the son of Village Jolt to the winner's circle in the $2,100 featured pace at the capital oval in a time of 1:57.3 for owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell Cove. Eagle Jolt used advantage of his rail control as he made front from the start, released Jeb (Driven by Jason Hughes) to the lead before moving out to retake the front past the quarter. Dial The Bossman (Mark Bradley) was second with Good Luck Kathy (Walter Cheverie) third.
Eagle Jolt was part of a regular night for the 'King' of Island racing as Campbell sent three horses out from his own stable and made three trips to the winner's circle.
Freddie and trainer/driver Campbell captured the $1,850 Open trot in 2:01.2 for owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston over Wedgewood (Gary Chappell) and Zip The Lip (Brian MacPhee).
Nikes Cowgirl was the other Campbell winner as she recorded a time of 2:00.1 in her $1,500 event for owner Jamie Struthers of Port Morien, N.S.
Race 8 on the program was ruled a no contest by the officials from the Atlantic Province's Harness Racing Commission when the Campbell-driven Scarlet Safari fell to the track past the quarter mile mark. Both horse and driver walked away from the incident unscathed.
Live racing continues Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Charlottetown.
