The 2016 season will go down as a memorable one for twin brothers J and Andrew Harris, considering each of them have racked up more than $1 million in purse earnings in their respective fields.
Ontario-based reinsman J Harris recently surpassed $1 million in seasonal earnings – a personal best for the young reinsman. A full-time reinsman for more than a decade, the Hagersville, Ont. horseman has also enjoyed a career year in the win department with 175 trips to victory lane.
This year’s totals are well ahead of his previous best totals from the 2013 season. That year he manufactured 145 wins and purses in excess of $716,000.
Andrew Harris, who trains a productive stable at White Birch Farm in New Jersey, is also in the midst of a career year considering he’s sent out 69 winners while racking up more than $1.2 million in purse earnings.
Among his stable stars in 2016 is Waitlifter K (1:52.3 - $176,637), who gave Harris his first-ever appearance in the Hambletonian. The son of Muscles Yankee finished fourth in the rich affair, and more recently finished a bang-up fourth to Marion Marauder in the Kentucky Futurity at The Red Mile in Lexington, KY.
