Driver David Miller made harness racing history when he guided Panagler to victory in the $36,500 Mares Winners Over Pace on Monday (Oct. 17) at Harrah's Chester
That victory, and the $18,250 credited to Miller's 2011 totals, saw him reach $10 million (U.S.) in seasonal earnings for the 10th time in his career, thus making him the first driver in the history of harness racing to accomplish that feat. He was previously tied with John Campbell for the most $10 million seasons with nine.
Miller recorded his first $10 million season in 2001 and broke that plateau again in both 2002 and 2003. After recording $8.8 million in 2004, he was back over the $10 million mark in 2005 and has reached that level every year since. His best year came in 2008 when his mounts earned just under $12.2 million. Miller recently surpassed the $150 million plateau in lifetime earnings and sits just shy of 10,000 lifetime wins.
