The 2010 meet at Mohawk Racetrack wrapped up tonight with some very familiar faces atop the drivers' and trainers' leaderboards
.
Mark MacDonald was once again the leading reinsman during the harness racing meet, which ran from May 20 to October 16. The 31-year-old driver, who won the O’Brien Award as Canada’s top driver in 2005 and 2006, racked up purses totaling over $3.5 million at the Campbellville oval this summer. Jody Jamieson, last year's winner, was a close second with $3.3 million earned. Third in the standings in terms of money earned was Randy Waples with $2.8 million in purses.
Three-time O'Brien Award winner Casie Coleman dominated the trainers' standings again this year with over $3 million in purses earned, over half of her closest competitor Jeff Gillis, who earned $1.2 million.
Coleman and MacDonald enjoyed much success together this summer at Mohawk including winning the $1.5 million North America Cup with Sportswriter and the $666,000 Fan Hanover Stakes final, both on the same night.
