Rideau Carleton Raceway’s leading reinsman, John MacDonald, dominated the Friday night 15-race card at the Ottawa oval driving one third of the winners. It was the second consecutive night MacDonald put together a five-win performance

The resident of Russell, Ont., picked up his first of five wins in the seventh race with Debster ($4.10) for trainer Mike Armstrong. MacDonald also scored three back-to-back victories beginning in the ninth race with Thingshavechanged ($6.10) for Marcel Surprenant, his own pupil Lickity Hanover ($10.60) and Bo Bernie ($5.20) for Richard Moreau. He then capped off his five-bagger with a 10-1 upset in the 14th race aboard Make Mine A Double ($23.80) for Luc Loyer.
MacDonald sits first in the track drivers standings with 244 wins on the year. Guy Gagnon is next in line, trailing MacDonald by 40 wins.
MacDonald has recorded 1,929 victories over the course of his career and has earned close to $9.7 million in purses.
