Driver John MacDonald put together a five-win performance at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening, and that allowed him to open up more ground on his fellow sulky sitter in the race to win Rideau’s 2010 driving title

.

The five trips to victory lane pushed MacDonald’s seasonal win total to 239 at Rideau Carleton Raceway – 35 more than Guy Gagnon, who sits second with 204 trips to the winner’s circle.

MacDonald swept the Daily Double thanks to wins behind JCs Kadabra (1:58.3) and En Katimini (1:57), and he later notched a natural hat trick thanks to wins with Borntobearockstar (1:57.3), Winston Image (1:58.1) and Chip Dot Com (2:01.4) in Races 11 thru 13.

MacDonald, who has racked up 255 wins on Canadian soil this season, recently went over $1.4 million in earnings in 2010. The career winner of 1,924 races has driven the winners of purses in excess of $9.6 million.
