Since no eliminations were required for the rookie colt pacers in this year’s Breeders Crown, the WEG race office has penciled in a conditioned race for two-year-olds on

Sunday night’s program which will feature many of the colts headed for the $700,000 (U.S.) final on October 24.

Among the starters is the undefeated World Champion Sportswriter, who has not competed since winning his division of the Champlain Stakes at Mohawk on September 12.

Trainer Casie Coleman qualified the Metro Pace-winning son of Artsplace--Precious Beauty on October 9 at Mohawk and was hopeful of getting a start into the colt prior to the Breeders Crown final.

Sportswriter will start from the outside post in the field of eight with regular pilot Mark MacDonald scheduled to drive. The hulking pacer is six-for-six this season for Coleman who co-owns along with Steve Calhoun and sports a bankroll of just over $685,000.

The field will also include Grand Circuit regulars Malicious (PP5) and World Of Rocknroll (PP7). Rounding out the group are Urgent Action (PP1), Top Gear (PP2), Kyle Major (PP3), Rafferty Hanover (PP4) and Windsong Gorgeous (PP6).

Woodbine will host Breeders Crown eliminations for the two-year-olds this Friday night and for the three-year-old counterparts on Saturday. The eight Breeders Crown finals, worth more than $5 million (U.S.) will be contested on Saturday, October 24.

The championship races will be televised as part of a three-hour special on Race Night on The Score from 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (ET). In addition, WEG will offer a guaranteed $50,000 pool for the Pick-4 that night.
