In a statement issued last week by Horse Racing Alberta's Chief Executive Officer Kent Verlik, Dawn Lupul is joining the organization effective October 15, 2022.
Lupul will start in the position of Director, Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Engagement this weekend.
"Dawn comes to us with decades of experience in the horse racing world, most notably as the well-respected voice of the Woodbine simulcast broadcast for ten years," said Verlik. "She has participated in many facets of both thoroughbred and standardbred racing, not only as a broadcaster but also as an owner, breeder and trainer."
According to the statement, Lupul will be "responsible for HRA corporate communications, stakeholder relations and engagement initiatives. She will lead the development of a corporate communication strategy and and play a key role in public and industry stakeholder engagement."
As part of her role, Lupul will be tasked with "helping to build positive relationships with all stakeholders, increasing stakeholders’ knowledge of HRA’s mandate, vision, mission and values, and consulting with stakeholders to co-create a renewed values-based culture in the Alberta horse racing industry." Verlik inducated that she "will also act as a liaison between Horse Racing Alberta and industry participants and will assist in sharing news and information that is important to our partners. She will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer."
The statement also indicated that Jeff Robillard's position title will shift to Director, Marketing & Promotions from its previous title of Director, Marketing & Communications.
"This change reflects our new approach to co-operative and collaborative marketing with our stakeholders, including the promotion of new programs, products and initiatives," said Verlik.
