Gty Stable's Gaitway Guy was a 1:56 winner in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings.
The Jeff Smith trainee made his usual first-over charge near the three quarters for driver Corey Callahan en route to a five-length win over Night Terror and Bad Boy Too. Gaitway Guy, a son of Delmarvalous, improved to four-for-four lifetime to remain unbeaten. He paid $2.10 to win.
Jo Ann Looney-King's Sweetest Swing ($9, Art Stafford Jr.) won the $20,000 DSBF consolation for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings in 1:56.1.
In the overnight feature, a $50,000 Open named to honour the memory of long time Delaware legislator Bobby Quillen who passed away in 2004, was won by George and Tina Dennis' Mack ($2.60, Mike Cole), who emerged a 1:52 winner from the pocket over Major Betts and Movin On Up.
The win was the fifth of the season for the Mach Three five-year-old, who is trained by Joe Columbo. It was one of four wins on the card for Cole, three of which were trained by Columbo, the meet's leading conditioner. Allan Davis also had four wins on the card.
