Better In Heels Struts In Western Fair Opener

Racing returned to The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday evening, Oct. 1 and Better In Heels won the lidlifter and card feature as the fifth leg of the $8,000 Prospect Series for freshman pacing fillies.

Better In Heels proved herself as the bettors' choice in the mile as she took post three in the field of seven with Austin Sorrie in the bike. Sorrie sent the Paul Davies student to the top and she cleared the field 1-3/4 lengths the best at the quarter in :29.1. The filly maintained her lead through the :58.3 half and 1:28.4 three-quarters. Never facing an anxious moment, Better In Heels brushed off her foes to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58.1. Century Lunar (Samuel Fillion) finished second with Coueratout Du Lac (Brett MacDonald) third.

Paul and Nicole Davies co-own the Betterthancheddar-Black Silletos freshman filly as she achieved her second career victory. In eight starts, Better In Heels has produced two wins and two seconds to go along with $15,600 banked.

She paid $3.20 to win.

All of the freshman finals for the Prospect Series will be contested on Friday, Oct. 11 at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
