Driver Loic Gueriel, coming from France to race in Canada in late 2021, landed in the winner’s circle of the Great White North for the first time when taking a $7,400 overnight race at Flamboro Downs on Sunday (Jan. 9).

Gueriel piloted Patrick Duharas to a maiden-breaking victory from post six, leading at every pole and stopping the clock in 2:03.4. Loic drove the four-year-old Father Patrick stallion to a $26 upset for trainer Denis Gueriel and owner Haras De L Estrie Inc.

Making his first start in Canada on Dec. 21, Loic Gueriel finished fifth in an $8,200 overnight at The Raceway at Western Fair District. He has driven in eight races in Canada, though he owns six victories from 90 races on record when racing in France.
