The betting public was all over Royal Outlook in Monday’s $13,200 Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, and the odds-on favourite didn’t disappoint his army of backers.

Sent off as the 4-5 choice in the eight-horse affair, Royal Outlook marched to the top for driver Rob Sparling, Jr. and threw down fractions of :27.2, :57.1 and 1:25.3 before using a :30-second closing quarter to seal the deal. He cruised to the win by 1-1/2 lengths over the dead-heating tandem of Quinnman and Button Up in 1:55.3.

Dan Creighton trains the five-year-old son of Royal Mattjesty-Fresh Outlook for Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, ON. Claimed just over a year ago for $15,000, the gelding put together an ultra-impressive record of 15-7-3 during last year’s 29-start campaign. He stashed away more than $160,000 in earnings last year, and he’s now banked more than $207,000 to date.
