Reports from the United Kingdom indicate that a man who sent life-threatening messages to the connections of a British racehorse has been given a suspended sentence
.
Andrew Rodgerson of Rochdale, Lancashire, UK had originally been charged with a single count of blackmail. Those charges were eventually dropped.
During police interrogation Rodgerson admitted making the threats against the life of racehorse Conduit due to gambling debts totalling more than EU55,000.
"I am clear that the gravity of the offense is the potential impact to the racing industry of this type of offending becoming more prevalent," said Judge Angela Nield in her sentencing.
