There was no stopping Ramegade Bruiser in the Open ranks at Woodbine Racetrack at the end of the 2008 season, and it was more of the same in his 2009 debut for owner/trainer Dave Brown of Cannington, Ontario.

Ramegade Bruiser shot to early command in Sunday afternoon’s $50,000 main event, and for third consecutive start he didn’t look back.

Chris Christoforou rolled the six-year-old son of Rambaran through panels of :26, :54.4 and 1:23 before the gelding uncorked a brilliant final quarter clocked in :26.4 en route to the 1:49.4 decision – the nation’s first sub-1:50 mile of the season.

Hyperion Hanover sat a pocket trip behind the 1-5 favourite, but came up a half-lenght short en route to securing the runner-up award. Kindly Poet rounded out the top three in the six-horse affair.

It was the second lifetime sub-1:50 clocking for Ramegade Bruiser, who now boasts $656,739 in lifetime earnings.
