Chick N Tell Triumphs At The Big M

Canadian-owned Chick N Tell invaded the Meadowlands Racetrack on Friday and came out a winner, scoring in the $35,000 Invitational Trot

Driven by Ron Pierce, the seven-year-old son of Glory B River – Power Chickette got away seventh from Post 3 as Likeabatoutahell (Brian Sears) set out for the lead from the outside. As the field of nine rolled past the first quarter station in :27.4, Chick N Tell moved out into the flow behind the parked Diana Hall (Antonino Buttitta).

With the :56 half-mile marker approaching and his cover fading, Pierce angled his charge three-wide. The post time favourite advanced on the outside past three-quarters in 1:25.3 then took charge in the stretch, sprinting home in :27.4 to win by a length and a half in 1:53.3.

The pocket-sitter, Knight Of Intrigue (Andy Miller) was the runner-up with Lets Get Serious N (John Campbell) coming in third.

Chick N Tell scored his second win of the year in four outings for trainer Linda Toscano and owners John Simmonds of King City and Stephen Doyle of Dundas, Ont. The winner of 29 races boosted his bankroll to $544,941.
