The 2021 Virtual O’Brien Awards Gala will be video streamed live right here, on standardbredcanada.ca on Sunday, Feb. 6 starting at 7 p.m. (EST).
The online stream, made possible by Standardbred Canada, is brought to you by co-sponsors Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals ~ Effective Supplements Through Science, and Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Omega Alpha will also be providing the winning trainer of the Somebeachsomewhere Horse of the Year Award with a $750 Omega Alpha Gift Pack.
The Virtual O’Brien Awards Gala will be hosted by Greg Blanchard and Jason Portuondo and feature live cut-ins with some of the finalists and winners.
There will be lots of opportunities for viewers to be involved in the Virtual Gala. Leading up to the awards, SC members and racing fans can take part in the O’Brien Handicapping Contest sponsored by Tara Hills Stud, which opens on February 2. On Monday, Jan. 31, the online Silent Auction gets underway with some great horse racing memorabilia up for grabs. A digital O’Brien Awards program available for viewing online will be posted on February 6 in advance of the Virtual Gala.
You can follow all of the action of Canada’s national harness racing awards event, starting with the Red Carpet Live coverage with host Kelly Spencer, live from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (EST), on standardbredcanada.ca and SC’s Facebook page. Spencer will be interviewing some of the finalists and special guests as they arrive on the Virtual Red Carpet.
At 6:30 p.m. (EST), there will be a 30-minute intermission and we’ll have Video Greetings available for watching at your leisure during that time.
