After skipping two weeks, Bluebird Reverend returned to the $20,000 Open Trot on Wednesday, Jan. 27 to score a 1:53.4 lifetime-best at Dover Downs.

With Montrell Teague in the bike, Bluebird Reverend came from off the pace to catch leader Tough Mac, with I Love My Boss also flying down the lane, for his second straight victory this meet for trainer Bob Reeser, who owns the Indiana champion with Holly Case, Denise Dennis and Jay Johannsen. A four-year-old altered son of former Matron champion Swan For All out of Little Revenue, Bluebird Reverend notched the 10th win of his career and pushed his earnings to $280,214. I Like My Boss (George Dennis) won the place photo over Tough Mac (Corey Callahan).

The same winning contingent returned to the winner’s circle a few races later in a 4&5-Year-Old Trot when Jailhouse Diva recorded a 1:56.1 triumph.

Corey Callahan came from far back to drive, from post eight, PCF Stable’s Kolbees Star to his second straight win in 1:56.4 for trainer Joe Holloway, in the $15,500 4&5-Year-Old Winners 4&5-Year-Old Trot. Kolbees Star is a Lear Jetta-Ultimate Star gelding. Adrenalin Junkie (Jim Morand) was second in front of Machuca (Allan Davis).

Iron Mine Branch’s Bull Investor, trained by Greg Haverstick with George Dennis driving his second winner, won his third in a row taking a $9,500 trot for young horses in 1:57.

A pair of impressive win streaks came to an end during the program. Leigh Raymer-owned and trained Master Builder (Callahan) snapped an eight-race win streak by Ragazzo Dolce (Morand) in 1:54.4. Dash For The Cash (Tony Morgan) out-finished Ragazzo Dolce for second-money in a $15,000-$20,000 Claiming Handicap Trot.

Callahan’s four winners lift his seasonal total at the track to 104 wins. Drivers George Dennis, Ross Wolfenden, Montrell Teague and Tony Morgan along with owner/trainer Arty Foster Jr., trainer Bob Reeser, and owners Reeser, Holly Case, Denise Dennis and Jay Johannsen all made the winner’s circle twice.

On Thursday, Nova Artist and Summer Camp lead the nine-horse Male pace feature race.
