Bowins Reaches 1,000-Win Milestone

Horseman Doug Bowins celebrated his 1,000th driving win with his own three-year-old pacing filly Its Perfect in the sixth race on Saturday at Flamboro Downs.

The Dundas, Ontario horseman sent the filly first over from sixth after the opening panel in her claiming-conditioning assignment and cleared to command down the backstretch en route to the two length victory in 2:00.4. Coastal Style (Terry Gribbin) and Cant Touch A Fool (J.R. Plante) followed in second and third.

Bowins trains and owns the daughter of Camluck, who notched just her second career victory in six starts. She paid $4.70 to win as the 6-5 favourite.

For Bowins, the win was his third in a row and pushed his career earnings to $4,313,565.
